Daily Reading

I was sick the last two days so I did not touch my cards at all, especially wednesday when I was worried I’d vomit on them.  So I’m using again my Tarot of Vampyres and my Madame Endora’s Fortune Cards.  Here are the results:

Card 1 Today: Wheel of Fortune & Ten of Knives

10200swords10200

When I took my card I realized there was another card right under it so that makes two cards for today.  So I’m guessing with the Ten of Knives there will be an unfortunate turn of event today.  No idea so far about what it could be so I’m guessing I should be careful.

Card 2 Surprise: Ace of Grails

cups01200

Love, friendship, warm moment with loved ones, maybe I’ll fall in love with another deck,

Card 3 Advice: Queen of Skulls

coins13200

The card tells me I should be grounded today, to base my projects on firm foundations, to use my practical skills at their fullest.  There is a wolf on that card as well as Wolf, maybe it doubles the message about being careful today.

Card 1 Today: Wolf

The Wolf tells me I should check my back and be careful about everything today.  I should listen to my intuition.

Ah ha!

You know how at times things jump at you and you wonder how come you didn’t think about it sooner?  It’s about the daily reading I did yesterday.  My periods started yesterday in the evening and as usual they brought with them painful cramps, nausea and back pain.  And since I got my back problems some years ago, the back pain is worse.  While I was turning in bed this morning, in pain and trying to sleep, it hit me.

I was rethinking about my daily reading of course, how while it started good it wasn’t so much a Nine of Grails day after all.  Then the image of the card popped up in my head.  I cannot help but think that the woman on the card is pregnant because of her belly so I usually try to keep this low since as a vampire she cannot have childen, but this card the card was right, it was all about the womb:

cups09womb

And remember the advice card?  I had to go to do the groceries yesterday and do my monthly purchases as well but I was tempted to postpone this to the next day (today), but the advice card was telling me not to procrastinate and to do wat I have to do.  Good thing I listened to the card and did my stuff early morning and afternoon yesterday because today I’m in no shape to go anywhere at all.  Same for probably the next few days.

This is so cool! Pouce levé

At the same time not cool at all! MaladeTriste

Daily Reading

I did my daily reading earlier using my new Tarot of Vampyres and my Madame Eudora’s Fortune Cards. Here are the results:

Card 1 Today: Nine of Grails

Photobucket

So I’m guessing today will be a good day where I will be happy and fulfilled emotionally. I will have good moments and I should enjoy them to the fullest.

Card 2 Surprise: Fool

Photobucket

There will something new today, a new experience or a new person I’ll meet. Maybe I’ll be given an opportunity and I should embrace it.

Card 3 Advice: Six of Knives

Photobucket

Maybe this warns me to be careful during a trip today (I’m doing my groceries today) or that I shouldn’t skip out on it even though I’m tempted to do it tomorrow instead. I also think the card could be telling me I have work to do at home I should do and I should stop procrastinating about it (chores).

Card 1 Today: Earth

Photobucket

My good organization skills will give me good results today. It’s true I’m good at these things, I can blame my rising sign Virgo. Or maybe it reminds me again I should do these chores.

My new deck

I acquired last month a beautiful tarot deck called Tarot of Vampyres. The art is really beautiful, romantic, filled with details, and the elegant and passionate vampires remind me of the vampires from Anne Rice. I wanted to start the study group but with small cards and so so scans I found on the internet, I caved in and scanned the deck myself. Now with bigger scans where I can see much better those details, I can finally study the deck. So I shall post my musing here.

Tarot of Vampyres I The Magician

Here is what I wrote for the Magician:

Photobucket

The Magician has golden tattoos on his arms and shoulders representing the golden solar energy that he is (Will). There is a red halo behind his head and I have no idea what it is, an aura of his energy? Another interesting element is the box that is under the skull, it is closed with a lock and you need a key to open it. What does the Magician hides there? Our hidden potentials? I’m guessing he is the only one who can open it.

Daily Reading

I did my daily reading earlier using my new Tarot of Vampyres and my old Madame Eudora’s Fortune Cards. Here are the results:

Card 1 Today: Eight of Skulls

Photobucket

It tells me today is a day of learning, a day of practical matters (planning?) where I will have to be careful and check every angle. I won’t see the immediate advantages about these actions but they will benefit me in the long term.

Card 2 Surprise: Two of Knives

Photobucket

This card tells me there will tensions today, or there has been tensions, but that peace and reconciliation will surprisingly happen today.

Card 3 Advice: Four of Knives

Photobucket

This card tells me I should be careful about my behavior and try to be peaceful and not be aggressive, and listen to what others have to say. I have to admit I tend to be aggressive, stubborn and blunt so the card says to keep these in check today.

Card 1 Today: The Spider

Photobucket

The Spider confirms the Eight of Skulls about being meticulous and patient.

This is the second daily reading I’ve done with my Tarot of Vampyre and I like it very much.   Considering I’ve used my beloved Liber T Tarot of Stars Eternal for so long, I’m not too lost with the Thoth-inspired Tarot of Vampyre.

Reading intuitively

I’m sure like many others, you are confused on how to read intuitively. Heck, I spent ten year not reading intuitively tarot myself and I was quite confused. I was especially envious of those who could read intuitively and get all those informations from a card. As an air sign, and lots of air in my chart, I’m rather rational and logical than intuitive, I could be, without a doubt, a Vulcan in a past life.

db_SB-_Stabe_031215

My first intuitive reading hit me like a brick. I have to tell you that story. I had just bought the Ancient Enlightement Tarot and those who know what deck know how weird and strangely ugly the deck is. I personally like weird and strange and the fact that the Rider-Waite Smith minors are inspired from it, I had to have it. As usual when I get a new deck, I bring it to my mother so she can check it out, she deeply wishes though I could stick to one deck for life at some point. She asked me to read her about work using this deck and I did so. As the obstacle position, the Three of Wands came up, the infamous decapitated cupidon. This card was my first intuitive reading. As you can see, the cheeks of the cupidon are hurt and swollen and he seems in pain. I suddenly remembered my mother’s arthritis and in particular the one she has in her mouth and jaws, at that moment it was very painful and swollen and it was giving to my mother headaches as well, she could barely eat too, hindering her work. I swear, when I saw this card and understood it, I almost jumped and screamed: "Oh my God, I just read intuitively!!!"

d0524902-215

Another example of an intuitive reading is one I made at some point with the Fey Tarot. The High Priestess came up. She is a pretty fey reading a book, sitting in some stairs. I was wondering what it could be, as you probably must have noticed, majors are hard to decipher, and suddenly, I saw that there was a door in the back at the top of the stairs, and the two dragons seemed to be inviting me there but the High Priestess was blocking the path. I realised that it meant that there was something I wanted to get but a person was blocking my way to get it which was true indeed (I ended up not getting it by the way).

Since then, I do read more intuitively. I guess we are so worried to learn by heart the cards and stop using the books all the time that we forget to look at the images of the deck. Effectively, the images will draw you in and elements might pop up more than others and you might suddenly get an idea about it.  It is important though to keep on learning tarot’s meanings, for intuition will not always kick in and you will need to fall back on your knowledge of tarot then.

An aspect though that might affect reading intuitively is the deck that you are using. As you can see in my examples, there is only one decapitated cupidon on a Three of Wands and it’s in the Ancient Enlightement Tarot. If I would have used another deck, I would have not gotten that reading. You might like the deck you have now but do you really connect with it? Can you be inspired by it and read intuitively with it? Sometimes, people get better readings with other decks than the "one" they have, some say that since you are not used to these new images, the cards are fresh and elements might pop up more than a deck you know by heart and don’t really notice anymore. Since this is all a matter of personal taste here, what might work for you might not work for others. You might find some decks aesthetic pleasing and yet, you might not be able to do intuitive readings with them. It’s a matter of testing decks and finding the one, or the ones, that suits you best. Some per example, use certain decks for certain matters, like The Lovers Path Tarot for love and relationship readings. As you can see, having more than one deck can give you advantages over those who only have one.

Hard decision

It was an hard decision for me but I’ve decided to quit Lord of the Rings Online permanently. I know I leave behind some friends, I have their emails so I have at least that, but also my beloved deluxe house, my first ingame house ever. I leave behind as well my characters I had become attached to with which I had fun role-playing.

I think it is partly playing Warhammer Online in november 2008 that made me realise that. Warhammer Online is so similar to Guild Wars that it almost made me feel like playing it. Guild Wars has so many qualities with its anti-grind attitude, non-gear oriented game, reach level cap fast, casual gameplay, fun. Not once I felt compelled to play Guild Wars, or obsessed, I played a lot but always for fun.
It was not the case for Lord of the Rings Online. I was compelled to play all the time to try to advance a little my alts and I felt for years I was not getting ahead. How come I can play a dozen alts in Guild Wars, get them to max level really fast, get them nice armors, skills, etc. in a few months while almost two years later and my 5 alts are still low level? Ok, I managed to advance my main more then the others in Lord of the Rings Online but only after I fully abandoned the other alts. Leveling alts is no fun in Lord of the Rings Online.

Let’s not forget the lack of storage, the deeds, the crafting, the reputations, etc. all grind that was making me obsessed about the game quite late at night and the whole day about the whole organisation. I was trying to play as often as possible to satisfy to everything.

Then came the second reason, the expansion Mines of Moria that has turned Lord of the Rings Online into World or Warcraft. I’m quite aware of World of Warcraft, I’ve heard about it plenty and I’ve decided long ago to avoid the game for many good reasons, one of them being the raids that are a must, and a grind, to acquire items. Frankly, if I wanted to play World of Warcraft, I’d buy the game, but since I’m not interested I’ve played other MMOs instead. Before Mines of Moria raids were not needed, one could craft, get items through quests or buy them on the Auction Hall but not anymore. As strange as it might seem, it’s World of Warcraft that is becoming more casual while Lord of the Rings Online is becoming more hardcore and more raid oriented.

Another thing coming from Mines of Moria are the skills, the virtues and the deeds. While before one did not need to work too hard on his/her deeds, now having them at high level is almost required. Still, even on the old system, one of the main reasons not to level up other alts was indeed the deeds, now it’s worse. There are as well different trait paths for classes and some classes get punished for certain choices while others don’t which is not fair. Turbine also has changed the combat system with Mines of Moria and that is quite a bad move.

So yeah, these are pretty much the reasons why I’m leaving, Lord of the Rings Online is turning into something I don’t like, and I want to go back to an healthy gaming state of mind because Lord of the Rings Online is very very unhealthy for me.

I’m going back to City of Villains/Heroes, like Guild Wars it’s casual, non-gear oriented, no raid, a rich and fun PvE MMO, and I’ve never felt that unhealthy addiction towards it as well unlike Lord of the Rings Online. On top of that, my guild there is still fully present ingame and I’ve been taken back and they’re still as nice as before. So from now on you know where to find me, on Virtue the unofficial RP server.

Me love cuteness – Free Realms

I admit it, I love cuteness. I love those games with cute graphics and I often check out asian MMOs because of their high level of cuteness factor. Alas for me, asian MMOs are 99% of the time hardcore grinders with not much to do than kill the same mobs again and again to level up, which brings back to me nightmares, the ones I had when I had to do it in Saga of Ryzom, and also when I had to do it for slayer deeds in The Lord of the Rings Online.

I’ve noticed Free Realms last year but it was hard to tell what to think of the game, all I could see were a very few small bad quality videos of a cute world. Since the year has started, more screenshots have come out and more videos, it looks really interesting. The game is focused on kids and teenagers but the adults can play it too if they want. The beta has recently started and the open beta should be there in a month or so, I definitively intend to try the game out and see by myself how it is. It seems the game is more focused on exploration and socialisation, we get to have a house and a pet and we also get access to many classes that we can switch anytime, one aspect I love very much, flexibility, which is something I deeply miss from Guild Wars.

Sony claims it will be free-to-play but actually there will be a small monthly fee of 5-6$USD for those who want to have access to the whole content and areas and there will be micro-transactions as well. It’s unfortunate because when I first saw the game, the game was supposed to be wholly free but with a small monthly fee for parents who wanted more security for their kids, understandably. Considering the game is marketing kids, I think that now with monthly fee for everyone and micro-transactions, that it might make kids somewhat addicted and make them litteraly beg their parents for virtual items. They are already begging their parents for real items, now it will be virtual stuff, I doubt it will be healthy

Cool Test!

I have fun passing those silly tests and quizzes (who doesn’t?) but this one was really interesting so I’m posting it here.

At the dawn of time, the gods who inhabited the Astral Sea warred with the primordials of the Elemental Chaos, the mighty beings who shaped the world out of formless void. The greatest of the gods’ mortal agents in that war were invokers, imbued with a fragment of the gods’ own might to fight alongside them. No other mortal servant of the gods can claim the same kind of power. Through rites of investiture, avengers, clerics, and paladins gain the ability to manifest echoes of that power, uttering careful prayers and channeling divine energy through their holy symbols. You, however, channel your god’s power directly. No mere symbol can contain it, for you speak the words of creation, shaping the universe to your and your god’s will.

Perhaps you were trained in a secret monastery, or you studied in a library where the universe’s oldest lore was preserved. Or perhaps you experienced the presence of your god firsthand and took a shard of divine power into yourself. You might even be an immortal born into flesh, slowly awakening to the awesome divine power that is your birthright. Whatever your past, you are among the gods’ most trusted servants, bound to a covenant in which you swore to use divine power with great care. To what end will you wield that might?
